The house of night series ...

After completing the Twilight series... i have started reading another series on vampires... well these vampires..spelled in this series as Vampyres... is much different from the Cullen family.. ! Though its not AS intersting and WOW like Twilight... still its quite fun...and i have completed 4 parts of this series..
The House of Night series is a best-selling series written by P.C and Kristin Cast..

The House of Night series takes place in a world where vampires are no secret. Selected teenagers are “marked” during their adolescence with a giant crescent tattoo in the middle of their forehead. If marked, a teenager must go live at the House of Night, a chain of boarding schools that train fledgling vampires and help them make it through The Change.

Marked begins when Zoey Redbird is chosen to become a vampire and follows her through her time at The House of Night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Overall it is an entertaining series... with an exciting take on the vampire genre..
I am looking forward to read the rest of the books in this series .. Hope it has an interesting ending too.... maybe like twilight..?! Ok..I won't expect another twilight... because...this story is totally different...

Thanks for reading my blog.. :)
I'll try to post some more reviews soon...

A Walk to remember...

In the list of my favourite authors... i added one more name , the day i read this book...  NICHOLAS SPARKS...the best-selling american novelist..

I never cried reading a book as much as i cried while reading "A walk to remember".....

'Every now and then you stumble across an extraordinary book that at first
appears like countless others, but then you read it and are amazed at the
treasure within. A walk to remember is such a book... ' New york sunday post..

Its an achingly moving story.... if you want to cry , read this book....
An incredible love story like no other..

Landon Carter is a popular kid in school, Jamie Sullivan is a sensitive outcast who was raised by a southern baptist reverend, and against all odds they fall in love and fight to let their love overcome all, including Jamie's ongoing battle with leukemia. This book will leave you in tears and wanting more. I have the pleasure of knowing that I atleast had the opportunity to read this one. It's everything that love should be and I wish I had that in my life.

Some other books by Nicholas Sparks.. which are worth reading are.

The notebook, Message in a bottle, Dear John, The first sight, The last song, the wedding... etc..

Novel reviews- The keeper's tattoo and the Alchemist

Hey frnds....Its been long since i posted anythng on my blog..
I have recently read two books...n i thot about rytng a review on da books..

The first book i read is "THE KEEPER'S TATOO" written by Gill arbuthnott..
It is her debut novel.

The story in brief.....

Orphaned as an infant, Nyssa can only dream about who she is, where she has come from - and the meaning behind the mysterious words branded on her skin...

It all began 10 years ago when twins Nyssa and Kit were four years old. Alarac, the evil leader of the Shadowmen, set out to eliminate the Keeper’s—a group of people who share the profound and ancient knowledge needed to keep the world afloat. Only once the Keepers were out of the way could Alaric rule. When he and his Shadowmen attacked, he kidnapped Kit. Fortunately Nyssa escaped.

Could the future of all free people depend on Nyssa ??

I totally loved the book....The Keeper’s Tattoo by Gill Arbuthnott is a very original story. It explores bravery, fear, stubbornness, and the power of a family bond.It is very fast-paced.  The Keeper’s Tattoo is an all-round exciting adventure.

Next I read The international bestseller."THE ALCHEMIST" written by Paolo Coelho..

Its a fable about following ur Dream...

Dreams, symbols, signs, and adventure follow the reader like echoes of ancient wise voices in "The Alchemist", a novel that combines an atmosphere of Medieval mysticism with the song of the desert. With this symbolic masterpiece Coelho states that we should not avoid our destinies, and urges people to follow their dreams, because to find our "Personal Myth" and our mission on Earth is the way to find "God", meaning happiness, fulfillment, and the ultimate purpose of creation.

The novel tells the tale of Santiago, a boy who has a dream and the courage to follow it. After listening to "the signs" the boy ventures in his personal, Ulysses-like journey of exploration and self-discovery, symbolically searching for a hidden treasure located near the pyramids in Egypt.

"The Alchemist", is an exciting novel that bursts with optimism; it is the kind of novel that tells you that everything is possible as long as you really want it to happen. That may sound like an oversimplified version of new-age philosophy and mysticism, but as Coelho states "simple things are the most valuable and only wise people appreciate them".

I really liked both these books a lot..
If you have read these books before ..do share ur views with me..
thanx for dropping by.. :)

Horror...

I Love

HORROR...!!

Watching horror movies or listening to horror stories.....n unsolved mysteries...are my favorite..!!
The unearthly and paranormal kind of things.....i have a great interest...
(Sudhi, try, beany, taru n bella already knws dat ...)hehe..

But i don't read much horror books....not that i never tried to read one....I did ....
but my problem was....i couldn't understand the high language the authors used....it was too tough for me...
I tried reading H.H.Munro (saki)'s horror story "The open window"....well i liked it...but it was not so scary....maybe because i didn't understand it completely..
Then i tried Edgar Allan Poe's "A tale of the ragged mountains"...mmm...but...didn't read more than 2 pages...
I didn't understand anything..

Wen i was small....i used to read "GoosebumpS"..even now if i get a "goosebumps" book ...i read it at one go..
It is interesting...well i think that way...but some of the goosebumps books are not scary at all....

Anyways...other  than goosebumps..i haven't read much horror fiction novels but the following are a few books which i would really want to read....and i hope and i think ..probably i'll understand them now..

  • Charlaine Harris's DEAD UNTIL DARK.....
  • William Peter Blatty's THE EXORCIST.....well the movie is soo scary....then what will be the book.!!...i'll surely want to read this book....The film "Exorcist" is still the most favorite horror movie of all times...it was released as early as 1973...
  • James Herbert's THE RATS and its sequel LAIR
  • Stephen King's SALEM'S LOT....(king of horror books...stephen king..!!..This Must be Good..)
  • Anne Rice's THE VAMPIRE LESTAT... (m always interested in vampire stuff...Bella...have u already read this book?)

I think this many books will be enough to start with...

If you have some more horror books which are your favorite....please share with me..

 "Love this pic..!"

Leadership Wisdom

I have started reading a new book...
Name of the book is..."Leadership Wisdom"....This book is written by Robin Sharma...an Indian Author..

His first book was "The Monk who Sold his Ferrari".... I bet most of u have heard the name...
It was a phenomenal national bestseller...

I didn't get the chance to read his first book...
But now wen I m reading the sequel of his first book ....I really want to read the first one ..

"Leadership Wisdom" is an Internationally Acclaimed Leadership guru....

Each page of this book contains treasures of wisdom that can enrich and enhance the life of every single person....

It is a captivating book that teaches as it delights...

I want to share a story with you which I read in this book........

"Once a young student traveled many miles to find a famous spiritual master. When he finally met this man , he told this man that his main goal in life was to be the wisest man in land.
Seeing the boy's enthusiasm, the master agreed to share his knowledge with him and took him under his wing.
'How long will it take before I find enlightenment?' the boy immediately asked.
'At least five years,' replied the master.
'That is too long,' said the boy. 'I cannot wait five years!
What if i study twice as hard as the rest of your students?'
 'Ten years' came the response.
'Ten years! Well, then how about if i study day and night, with every ounce of my mental concentration? Then how long would it take for me to become wise?
 'Fifteen years' replied the master.

The boy grew very frustrated. 'How come every time I tell you I will work harder to reach my goal, you tell me it will take longer?'

'The answer is clear', said the master. "With one eye focused on the reward, there is only one eye let\ft to focus on your purpose."

I liked the story a lot..
And I want to share some leadership traits which I learnt from this book..
If you guys are there to listen then I'll share. Let me know...if you liked the story...
And want to hear more....
Thanx for visiting.. :)
